Safety in the kitchen

Many of the kitchen appliances we use, such as ovens, grills, hobs, and microwaves, possess the potential to cause fires.

One of the primary dangers arises from leaving frying pans or food on the grill unattended.

It is easy to get distracted by various factors like the doorbell or taking care of children and pets, causing one to forget that fires can ignite unexpectedly.

To ensure cooking safety, there are a few straightforward precautions you can take:

1. Avoid leaving saucepan handles protruding, as they can be grabbed by children or accidentally knocked off the hob.

2. Exercise caution with loose-fitting clothing while cooking.

3. Keep tea towels and dishcloths away from any heat sources.

4. Double-check that the oven or hob is switched off once you have finished cooking.

5. Never leave your cooking unattended. If you need to leave the room, make sure to turn off the hob.

6. Maintain all cooking appliances in a clean and well-functioning state.

7. Refrain from using grills or ovens as storage space when not in use for cooking purposes.

8. If you have consumed alcohol or used drugs, consider ordering a takeaway instead of cooking.

9. Utilize a timer while cooking to receive an alert when the set time is up. This can serve as a reminder to turn off the heat source.

Safe cooking!
